When your smelting ore in the furnace the last 4 ore doesn't smelt and it just waste's all your coal

Ran into this as well. Once you get to the last 4 items in your stack, the furnace will rapidly consume the rest of your fuel source without smelting anything. I even put the remaining 4 in a different furnace, with the same result.
